"That Girl"

So now we are into the finals of "Dancing with the Stars," and lo and behold, that girl Kelly Monaco made it into the finals. Does anyone out there have no shame? If you all really wanted to vote for the underdog, you all should have voted for Evander Holifield.
OK, I do admit that Kelly has improved since her first performance, but really?
All I can say is that if John O'Hurley does not win this thing, I will be boycotting the inevitable sequel to this thing.

And speaking of "That Girl," I encourage everyone to go out and support Esthero by buying her new album, "Wikked Lil Girrls" that was released this past Tuesday. It's not as tight as her debut album (from which the wonderful song, "That Girl," comes from), but it is an excellent release, and a welcome departure from most of the Top 40 pop drudgery that is on the radio these days. If you got iTunes, and they actually have the album up, check out these songs:
"Gone," "Wikked Lil Girrls," and "Everyday is a Holiday with You."

Oh, and to those girls that I met at the Lifehouse concert on Tuesday at El Corazon, thank for a great time. I wasn't really looking forward to going, but you gals made it a much more enjoyable experience.

iPod mania!!!

So my (shingled) sister now tells me that my spiffy U2 iPod that I got (well, she got one first, I'm just a follower) has now been re-released with a new COLOR screen and PHOTO capabilities!!!
Isn't it just our luck! That and Apple also has lowered the price now!
I love technology, and yet, I hate it at the same time, as we can never keep up with it.
I also like that new Cingular Motorola RAZR V3 phone, but I'm on a two year contract with Sprint, and by the time I'm able to get a new cell phone, another new thing will pop up that will cost $500 at first, and I can't justify spending that much money on a cell phone, since I don't use it that much anyway, and I'll probably drop it and break it sooner or later. But the RAZR will be so 5 minutes ago by then...

Got some hot stuff...

O.K. Here I am sitting in the little closet that is known as out "OR X-Ray Tech Office" (which has barely enough room to fit three people in).

I am living through the inevitable wait for them to call me in to go and do a case. And already I'm suffering through heat issues. The OR here is consistently kept at a cool temperature, I'd say it is around the lower 60's in here. But nevertheless, I am still having a heat flash like a St. Benard in the middle of summer in a parked car. You think that with my body temperature running so hot all the time that I would have a high metabolism and be as thin as a rail, but NO!!! I am still the 70+ pounds (more or less, depending on which chart you are looking at) overweight person that I was yesterday and the day before. It also doesn't help that since I'm working with radiation, I have to wear this lead apron that both weighs an extra 15 pounds, and restricts my body from mingling with the air around me. So this is what it must feel like to live in Louisiana. No than you heat and humidity!

I remember once that I only visited the "tropical" house at the local zoo, and I nearly died after being in there for only 10 minutes. No joke! I don't think I could ever aclimate to the east coast, especially in the summers. I can survuve living through the 100+ degree weather in Vegas becuase it is a dry heat, but if you so much as spit in hot air, the humidity is enough to kill me.

Maybe I should move up to Alaska...

"The first rule of Fight Club is..."

OK, I'm gonna make a promise to myself now.

I promise that I will try to write in this blogger everyday (well, OK, at least every other day).

Don't look at me like that!!!

Anyway,

I just got done reading Chuck Palaniuk's "Fight Club" (after watching the movie many times).

You know how usually most movies based off of books, one is usually better than the other (usually the book). Well, I think that in this case, both forms have merit. However, the book does clarify some things better. I think it does a better job of explaning the whole Narrator/Tyler Durden situation, and all that. I think it's a very good read, and still worth your while even if you have seen the movie countless times. I was surprised in how much larger Marla's role in the book is versus the movie.

So after reading two of his books, I still think that "Invisible Monsters" is the stronger of the two works. I think it would work pretty well as the movie, but there are many plot twists that would be very hard to hide until the end of the movie. I guess there could be some weird conventions that could make it work (blurring out things, etc.). Well, actally I thought it would make a good movie while I was reading the earlier part, but once I hit the plot twist, I was like "Hey, this won't work!" OK, I don't really know where I was going with this.

Dancing with the (Bad) Stars?

OK, so I haven't written anything here for a few weeks, so sue me!

What is more surprising is the little mundane things that inspire me to write in here anyways.

Like today's topic...

Whoever out there that seriously thinks that Kelly Monaco should actulally advance any further in ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" is either very sick, on crack, or (most likely) both!

Now don't get me wrong, Kelly may actually be a very nice and pleasant person, and she may even be a decent actor (though I wouldn't really know, since I never watch "General Hospital" or whatever soap she's on), but anyone can clearly see that out of all the celebrity dancers that are left in competition, she is the weakest. She doesn't have very good lines, and her dancing seems very forced. Granted, if she had more practice, she could possibly turn out to be a pretty decent dancer (and I am not one to judge, since I haven't actually done any of these dances myself, much less learn them in a weeks time, but then, do any of us really have that much time?) but out of everyone left, she doesn't seem to be as pleasant to watch as all the others.

I cannot believe that she has even survived this long anyway. Here we are in week four of the competition. She really should have been the first to be eliminated. She has consistently ranked very low with each of the judges (by the way, go Carrie!!! Gotta support my past Madonna back-up dancers!), with each of them giving her harsh critiques, from the first week where she danced with a very dour expression, to the second week, where she doesn't move in fluid lines. Kelly must have the most ardent fan base in the world (well, at least America). I mean, Rachel Hunter (who I was gonna bet my life would make it to the final two with John O'Hurley) has always gotten rave reviews from the judges, and she is struck down this week? Come on voters!!! Wake up and actually see who is really dancing, and who is merely phoning in their moves.

So far, Trista was the first voted off (and I agree with this, she was pretty weak, but I did think that she was stronger than Kelly!), and Evander (who was very amusing to watch dance. He is by no means a very good dancer, but I have to admire his courage to go on there in front of millions and move his huge, muscular, almost ogre like body in the name of a dance competition. I nearly laughed myself to death watching him do the Jive). And now, one of my favorites, Rachel, is voted off. Just goes to prove that there is no justice in the world. Either that or America does not really know how to vote, but alas, that is a subject for another time (or another blogger).

In conclusion, since one of my favorites is not booted off the show, I have no choice but to tell all you sane, rational people who watch the show to please vote for John O'Hurley or Joey McIntyre (God, I never thought I'd actually be telling people to vote for Joey McIntyre for anything!). If Kelly somehow advances to the finals, or (Heaven forbid) wins, I am gonna boycot phone in voting forever (kinda like how I already boycot "American Idol").
