Happy Birthday...

...to me.

Oops!

I totally missed on the one year anniversary of my blog! Shame on me!!!

Anyways (my sister tells me I use that word way too much), Happy Anniversary to myself, about three days late!

And thanks to everyone that gave my blog page a once over. I know that I am not really writing this blog for anyone in general, except for maybe myself, but I know someone out there may be reading my words and relating to what I am saying.

Anyways (there I go again!), I was going to start a little annual tradition and nominate a "best song of the year" for myself. My music tastes are eclectic at best, and downright odd at worst, so for me to pick one song that I think is the best that I've listened to all year is really something (I guess).

So here are the nominees:

-"Me Plus One" by Annie. A perfect little bit of Euro-Pop done right by a real person from Europe.
-"Tired of Being Sorry" by Ringside. Lovelorn pathos from a lover that lost it all. What's more to love?
-"You're Beautiful" by James Blunt. The only thing more sad than love lost as in Ringside's song is a love that was never meant to be.
-"Get Together" by Madonna. The Bitch is back with a new dance album, and what's more fun than dancing your cares away in the comfort of your own home in pajama bottoms? Maybe it's only me...
-"My Humps" by The Black Eyed Peas. A stupid song that burrows it's way into your head and doesn't let go. As much as I hate what Fergie has done to the BEP, I just can't help singing along to this song whenever I hear it.
-"Gold Digger" by Kanye West. Not the song with the best message, unlike some of his other songs ("Jesus Walks"), but a fun hip-hop treat none the less.

I'll decide on a winner next week! In the meantime, go to Apple.com and download iTunes (it's free, and one of the best music management programs around, even if you don't own an Apple iPod) to listen to a sample of each of the songs. Who knows, you might find something you like.

The perpetual silence of being cold...

It's darn cold here in the Pacific Northwest. But I guess it isn't in blizzard-like conditions yet like some parts of America gets.

Anyways, I should be sleeeping (again!), but here I am, with my fingers freezing off, and yet I am finishing off a Jamba Juice (my new favorite craving, well, at least since this past summer). It's about 32 degrees outside, yet I'm still drinking my juice and ice blended smoothie. Why is that? Kinda like how Alaska has the highest consumption of ice cream in the US. It's that "as long as I'm freezing, I might as well do it right" mentality.

Anyways, sorry for being such a letdown with the lack of posts recently. It's cold!!!

World AIDS Day

I almost forgot that today is World AIDS Day. But at least I remembered. It's so easy nowadays to think that the situation is under control, with the global AIDS pandemic being pushed aside for much "trendier" diseases like Breast Cancer, and the avian flu in the news. With the advent of treatments and drugs that allow people with HIV/AIDS to live longer and richer lives, it's easy to forget that half a world away, that millions of Africans are living with AIDS with no hope of treatment. And even in our own back yard, AIDS is not eradicated yet. There are still millions of people out there living in the United States with AIDS, and they know no boundaries, as this isn't just a disease gay people and IV drug users suffer from.
