Crappy colds!!!

Well, just as I'm about to fully recover from my surgery, I had to go ahead and catch the cold that was being passed amongst my family members (only my dad left to go!).

So I finally get rid of the throat pain, and it gets immediately replaced by a sore throat.

Gee, fun!

And the best part is, everytime I catch a cold, I become the human mucus factory. I swear, I go through a whole box of tissues when I am sick. Even worse is the fact that a 5-7 day cold for most people becomes a 10-14 day cold when I catch it. Must be my crappy immune system. Sometimes I wonder why I work in a hospital...

Anyway, I'm off now to continue playing my new vice, World of Warcraft. It's a bloddy brilliant game, and it's as addictive as crack/cocaine. I never really thought I would be into a massive multiplayer online game, but growing up on a healthy staple of Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy, this was probably the most logical next step. If you haven't played it yet, you really should try it out. It has gotten me through some of my more "bleah" days (I'll probably need to change the title of my blog soon!). And I've found myself up to 5 in the morning playing this. Good thing that I only work 4 days a week, or I'd be screwed!

Am I over it yet?

Hey, a few months pass by soo quickly now! I haven't had a new blog in ages (not that anyone really reads my blog, it's more like my little jurnal that other people can potentially peer into).

Anyways, on March 23, I got some surgery done.

No, not plastic surgery (and I doubt I'll ever get that due to the pain involved!)

No, instead I had my tonsils, adenoids, and uvula taken out, all in the name of relieving me of sleep apnea (you know it's bad when you drive for more thank 20 minutes, and you can barely keep your eyes open, even witht he windows down, music blairing, a pin stuck through my hand, etc.) And let me tell you, there were a lot of things that i've gone through that I say taht I would never wish upon my worst enemy, but this one takes the cake!

So the surgery is not the hard part. It's the recouping. 12 days later, and I still cannot drink orange juice for fear that my upper throat will melt away into some congealed goo like the Wicked Witch of the West. My first week, I could barely swallow my saliva, much less food. "Just shoot me!" was my mantra.

Unfortunately, because of this attitude, I got SEVERELY dehydrated, which makes recovering even more nastyier. From getting the shakes to fainting spells to urine the color of cheetoes, yeah, it was definately nasty. So nasty that I had to go back and get 1000cc more IV put into me a week later.

Anyway, I'm doing much better now. I'm able to eat softened pasta (orzo cooked in chicken broth has become my new best friend. Thanks for the tip Rachael Ray!), and if I chew it thouroughly enough, I can even have chicken now. But I would give my right foot (o.k. you got me. I finally saw Saw today. What an icky movie. And there's gonna be a sequel!!!) to have a slice of pizza right now. Damn you Food Network for your pizza specials!!!

So here's to a speedy recovery!

Till next time, caio!

p.s. I'm not Catholic, but condolences to everyone who is affected by the Pope's passing.

p.s.s. Condolences to Terri Schaivo, for having that whole back and fourth tug of war over your life by your husband and parents. May you rest in peace finally.
